Thrive is proud to welcome Roberto “Bobby” de Ocampo, OBE—one of the Philippines’ most respected economic architects and public servants—to its Advisory Council. His appointment strengthens Thrive’s ability to shape bold, systems-level solutions to child hunger and educational access, not only in the Philippines but across emerging markets worldwide.
A Leader of Global Standing
Mr. de Ocampo’s career spans decades of transformative leadership. As Secretary of Finance (1992 to 1998), he guided the Philippines to its first fiscal surplus in twenty years and earned international recognition as Euromoney’s Finance Minister of the Year—the first Filipino and only the second ASEAN minister to receive the honor. His contributions to public service have been recognized globally, including being appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) and receiving France’s Chevalier of the Legion of Honor.
He has led major national institutions such as the Development Bank of the Philippines and the Asian Institute of Management, and today serves as Chairman and CEO of Philippine Veterans Bank. Across these roles, he has shaped policy, strengthened institutions, and influenced regional development agendas.
