A Joyful Call with JAAGO Habiganj School

By October 9, 2026No Comments

If you ever need proof that a simple video call can spark big smiles across continents, our recent Zoom session with JAAGO Habiganj School delivered exactly that.

From left to right: Teacher Mazina, Farhan, Teacher Mosharof, and Hosna

What started as a quiet, slightly nervous hello from Hosna (15 years old) and Farhan (13 years old) quickly turned into a burst of energy, laughter, and cross‑cultural connection. They opened with prepared speeches (very sweet, very formal), but they truly began to shine once guests began asking questions and connecting with them.

Farhan’s Radish Adventure

Farhan, who wants to become an engineer someday, started out sitting quietly at the start of the call. But when Rayhnuma Ahmed (who recently joined the Thrive Board) asked him about what he’s been reading, he lit up like a beacon. He launched — very enthusiastically in Bangla — into a a story he read recently about a family growing and harvesting radishes. Rayhnuma translated for the group who shared in delight of Farhan’s very animated storytelling.

Hosna Finds Her Voice

Hosna began the call shyly, answering questions from Serwar and Kris Ahmed with soft, careful words. But as they asked about her school life, her hobbies, and her dreams, she warmed up fast. Soon she was asking them questions about their work, their lives, and even inviting them to visit Habiganj soon. Serwar and Kris happily shared that they’re already planning a trip next year, which made Hosna beam.

Music, School Life, and Youth Council Fun

Members of the Thrive Youth Council in the U.S. joined in too, swapping stories about daily student life and discovering shared interests. The highlight? Hosna casually mentioning she likes Billie Eilish, which instantly sparked a flurry of excited reactions from her peers abroad.

Why These Calls Matter

These calls aren’t just about showing what life is like in the schools we support. They’re about building relationships—real, joyful, human connections between students, teachers, donors, and supporters. They remind us that across oceans and time zones, curiosity, kindness, and laughter translate effortlessly.

Keep an eye out for more events like this. We can’t wait to bring even more people together.
