“Because of Thrive, I can eat. I have energy to go to school. I won’t be hungry and my stomach won’t hurt.”
Meet Kathleen, a 12-year-old student from Dawahon Island, a remote community in the Philippines. Kathleen lives with her grandmother while her mother works in Cebu. As her grandmother’s caretaker, Kathleen helps support their family by farming seaweed, or “lokot,” to earn money for rice and other necessities.
Despite these responsibilities, Kathleen excels in school, maintaining the top position in her class. Before Thrive, she often went to school without eating and experienced hunger pains. Now, daily school meals give her the energy to focus on her studies and care for her grandmother.
From Kathleen: “My favorite food to eat at Thrive are apples and oranges. Before I could only eat it on special occasions, now I can eat it even if there isn’t a special occasion.”
Your support helps children like Kathleen receive the nourishment they need to learn, care for their families, and pursue their dreams.
From Kathleen: “Thank you to the supporters of Thrive. Through you we have feedings and we have food.”
