“When I go to school on an empty stomach, my stomach growls for food.”
Meet Ruwaida, a bright 10-year-old girl growing up in an underserved community in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As the middle child of three sisters, Ruwaida helps her mother with household chores, enjoys studying mathematics, and has a big dream for her future: becoming a pilot.
But for Ruwaida, hunger can make even an ordinary school day challenging. When she arrives at school without breakfast, the discomfort of an empty stomach can make it difficult to concentrate on her lessons. Through Thrive’s school nutrition program, Ruwaida receives nutritious food that helps her stay nourished and ready to learn.
From Ruwaida: “I like mathematics. I want to be a pilot.”
For Ruwaida, something as simple as an egg or a serving of nuts can bring joy to her school day. These nutritious foods help provide the energy she needs to focus on her education and continue dreaming of the future she hopes to build.
During Ramadan, a time of reflection, compassion, and generosity, Ruwaida’s story reminds us how meaningful the gift of a nutritious meal can be. Your support helps children facing hunger receive the nourishment they need while giving families one less worry.
From Ruwaida: “Are you all doing well? Please visit our country and talk with us. Thank you Thrive!”
Every child deserves the opportunity to dream big without hunger standing in the way. With your generosity, children like Ruwaida can continue learning, growing, and reaching for the sky.
